Last week to see Jeff Carter

This is your last week to catch the State Library’s excellent Jeff Carter exhibition before it closes on February 20.

The Jeff Carter photographs in Beach, Bush + Battlers have been selected from his remarkable, historically significant archive of over 50,000 works celebrating the lives of everyday Australians in rural, outback, urban and coastal communities dating from the late 1940s through to today.

Medium: Vinyl is open for entry


This year, the Hardware Gallery joins Head On to invite photographers to take part in their annual Medium: Vinyl exhibition which encourages photographers to make art on a vinyl record.


“Every year, we find a lot of artists use it as an opportunity to try something new, or experiment a little with their work,” said Lew Palaitis, Director of Hardware Gallery.

This extraordinary exhibition may be one of the most intricately constructed displays ever seen at the Australian Centre for Photography Not only has photojournalist Stephen Dupont sought to encompass fifteen years of working in Afghanistan’s historically conflicted land, he has managed to display his photography in literally, a floor to ceiling, wall to wall tapestry of pictures.

Join us for our next Head On Spotlight session with the incredible photographer Alexia Sinclair at 12.30pm Wednesday 7 July (Sydney time). This session is a must for all photographers who want to push the boundaries of photography. Alexia will discuss her methods for creating photographic artwork from start to finish, including set building, studio lighting, and shooting for composites. She will share her top tips and techniques for using Photoshop.
